Freshmen BME students' engineering instructor(s) also serve as their academic advisor. At the beginning of the sophomore year, each student is assigned an academic advisor from within the department. Transfer students are generally assigned a BME advisor during the first term they enroll at Mercer. Students meet with their academic advisor at least once each semester, and more frequently as needs arise. Mercer's engineering curriculum in itself is structured, and close attention from students' help assure good progress toward degree completion.
