welcome from the DEPARTMENT CHAIR

Edward M. O'Brien, B.S., M.S., Ph.D., P.E. Associate Professor & Chair, Department of Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineering is a mix of traditional engineering topics, with a special aim toward modern medical applications. Included among these are medical devices such as pace makers and heart valves, diagnostic instrumentation such as doppler/ultrasonic imaging systems, and transport devices such as kidney dialysis units. Biomedical engineers of course also deal with the complex issues of ethics, cost containment and communication.

At Mercer, we believe our students receive a very high quality education from some of the most caring and knowledgeable faculty and staff in the business.

Whether you are visiting as a current or prospective student or faculty or friend, or you just want to know more about BME at Mercer, we hope you will enjoy your visit.
