"Employers want employees with both education and experience. I was
very fortunate because Mercer helped me to get both," said James Prolizo, a 2005 graduate. "That
combination drastically improved my job prospects." An engineer at Envisionware Inc., Prolizo finds that not only are his education and
working experience important, but so are his "soft-skills," such as leadership,
communication and presentation skills, all of which his Mercer experience
helped him develop.
"In the real world, you have to interact with people beyond your engineering
team," Prolizo said. "In my job, I work with different aspects of the company and
have to deal with different people. I interact with the sales department and the
support department. I also have to give presentations to the executive board of
Envisionware. I can do all of that because of the education I received at Mercer
University's School of Engineering."
