Meet the Dean

Dr. Vicki Britt

Dr. Vicki Britt is the dean and Georgia Kaolin Industry Chair of Mercer University’s School of Engineering.  Before joining Mercer, Dr. Britt was senior vice president of Innovation, Engineering and Flight at Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Georgia. In this role, she was responsible for research and development; new aircraft program initiation; engineering and product development; flight, lab and structural test; and worldwide Gulfstream flight operations.  Vicki joined Gulfstream in 1996 and held a number of roles in the areas of stress, fatigue and damage tolerance, new product development, special missions aircraft modification, and airframe structural engineering.

During her tenure at Gulfstream, Dr. Britt was an active member of Mercer’s NEAB, established in 1986 to support the School of Engineering by offering students and faculty premier research opportunities, contributing technical expertise and financial support, and providing career opportunities to Mercer’s graduating engineers.

Prior to joining Gulfstream, Dr. Britt began her aerospace career at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia where she conducted research on structural design of composite materials and fatigue and damage tolerance of metallic materials.

Dr. Britt holds a doctorate in aerospace engineering from Old Dominion University. She earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from North Carolina State University.
