Current students have a wide variety of opportunities to get involved in the School of Engineering through academic honor societies, national engineering chapters, campus organizations, clubs, and more.
Engineering Student Organizations
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
Founded in 1852, ASCE is the nation’s oldest engineering society. Mercer's chapter partners with the national American Society of Civil Engineers to stand at the forefront of a profession that plans, designs, constructs, and operates society’s economic and social engine – the built environment – while protecting and restoring the natural environment.
Faculty Advisor | Dr. Kleio Avrithi
Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES)
Mercer's chapter of the national Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) works to support biomedical engineering students through professional development, research, and education with the goal of advancing human health and well-being.
Faculty Advisor | Dr. Joanna Thomas
Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
The purpose of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is to support aspiring technical professionals through technological innovation. Mercer's chapter of this international organization provides engineering students with the opportunity to be a part of a global community with the goal of advancing technology.
Faculty Advisor | Dr. Anthony Choi
Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE)
Mercer's chapter of the international Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE) prepares students for future careers through leadership opportunities, education, research, and more.
Faculty Advisor | Dr. Pablo Biswas
Machine Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory (MIRL)
