Scholarships for Engineering Education at Mercer University

Earn up to $17,500 to study engineering at a private university in Georgia!

The Scholarship for Engineering Education, valued at up to $17,500, is for Georgia residents who pursue a degree in any one of the following University undergraduate areas accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology:

  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering

This program represents a commitment by the State of Georgia for private engineering education as well as the desire to retain new engineering graduates in the state. This program is funded by the state and administered by the Georgia Student Finance Commission.

Relevant information from the GAFutures website:

  • $3,500 per academic year to a maximum of ten (10) terms and $17,500.
  • If scholarship loan recipients fail to complete their degree program or meet the terms of the employment obligation within 12 months after graduation, or terminates full-time (12 hours) enrollment, the scholarship becomes a loan, which must be repaid in cash with interest. At the time a recipient enters repayment status, the interest rate will be fixed for the term of repayment based on the Prime Rate as of the first business day of January of the then-current calendar year plus one percentage (1%) point, not to exceed ten percent (10%) per annum.

Eligibility for this award for Georgia residents is contingent upon admission to the School of Engineering and its yearly renewal requires students to maintain a minimum 2.5 overall cumulative HOPE GPA. The Mercer University Office of Student Financial Planning makes the SEE awards to eligible students based on availability of funds.
