Machine Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory
The Machine Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory (MIRL) empowers ambitious students with resources to build robots for fun and competition, removes barriers to entry into robotics, and creates a path to engineering leadership success. MIRL offers students the opportunity to utilize 3D printers, a laser cutter, and a variety of tools for free. This space is not just for Engineering students, but for every Mercer student from any program or background.
“The Machine Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory (MIRL) enables students to develop in-demand skills through hands-on student-led activities and trainings while also having the opportunity to collaborate on innovative projects.“
Colin Petherbridge | President, MIRL
MIRL was created to inspire undergraduate and graduate students to explore different topics and research projects. Below are examples of projects students can expect to participate in:
- Autonomous Submarine
- Autonomous QuadCopter
- Autonomous Kayak
- High Altitude Research Platform (HARP)
- Mars Rover
- Parametric Estimations Based on Homomorphic Deconvolution for Time of Flight in Sound Source Localization System
