Graduate Certificate in Communication for Engineers and Technical Professionals

Advance Your Career in as Little as a Year

Mercer University’s Graduate Certificate in Communication for Engineers and Technical Professionals (GCCETP) will provide professionals in fields like engineering, technology, science, and medicine with hands-on, practical experience in effective communication. Like our M.S. degree, the GCCETP offers a unique experience focused on the managerial role of the professional communicator balanced with training in effective communication skills such as writing, editing, speaking, and the use of multimedia. In addition, we introduce certificate students to new developments in the private sector that are changing the way professionals communicate, including UX, content strategy, and AI.

Earn your GCCETP in as little as one year. Apply using the graduate program application and simply state whether you wish to pursue the GCETP or the Master of Science in Technical Communication Management (MSTCM).

Please note students who are admitted to the GCCETP are not eligible for financial aid. However, at any point, GCCETP students with a 3.2 GPA or higher may petition to move to the MSTCM degree. Students who have declared the MSTCM cannot petition to move to the GCCETP.

Certificate Requirements

The certificate requires a total of 12 semester hours, or 4 courses selected from among the same classes as MSTCM students. GCCETP students must also take TCO 602: Foundations in Technical Communication and TCO 685: Project Research. In 685, GCCETP students apply their skills from the certificate to complete a workplace project in consultation with the instructor.
